How Coaching Works
After an initial meeting, your coach will design a personalized coaching program that addresses the specific issues you discussed. Your customized program will include:
- Exercises: These are activities such as self-observation, reflection, or journaling that help you become more aware of yourself and your surroundings. Exercises help you gain new perspectives and insights into how your reactions and responses affect you and those around you.
- Practices: These are new behaviors that are practiced over the span of the coaching program with the intention of helping you develop competence in a new area. While insights happen quickly, it takes ongoing practice to embody those insights and shift our habitual behaviors and responses into a new way of being.
A coaching program is an ongoing and evolving process. You and your coach will continually assess your progress throughout your coaching program, and you will return to your purpose and outcomes again and again for adjustment and clarity. Your coach will design new exercises and practices to help you make positive movement toward your outcomes. This keeps your coaching program alive and evolving to support your development and helps you to notice the shifts and growth you’re making throughout the program.
